The Department of Languages and Intercultural Communication is a structural subdivision of the KSLA and implements educational, methodological, research, translation activities, contributes to the development of a system of training, retraining of bachelors and specialties of activity of graduates of institutes. The department was created after the reorganization of the Center for State Official and World Languages in September 2019 and was headed by Rakhima Toktogulovna Sagymbaeva since September 2019. Since November 2020, the head of the department is Turdakunova Syrgazhan Alakunovna.

Activity of the department
The Department of Languages and Intercultural Communication performs the following tasks:
• development of educational and methodological activities of the teaching staff;
• improving the technology of teaching languages in non-linguistic universities;
• preservation and enhancement of moral, cultural and scientific values;
• conducting work among students to study the accelerated development of the foreign language, the dissemination of the foreign language among the population and increasing interest in learning foreign languages;
• organization of translation activities in the office work of the KSLA;
• providing translation assistance in the office work of the KSLA The research work of the department is carried out on the topic: “Formation of professional and intercultural communication in the process of teaching languages”
